Valve Body Repair and Service
The valve body is another part that is essential to a modern automatic transmission. This piece receives the fluid that is from the torque converter and runs it through a series of spring-loaded valves, which measure the pressure placed on them. This allows the transmission to be able to tell when the engine is running at a high RPM and in need of an upshift in order to maintain an efficient balance. When the pressure is released, a different set of valves open, signaling to the transmission that it is time to downshift. Valve bodies and torque converters are much more complex than the mechanicals inside a manual transmission, and thus are more expensive to repair when something goes wrong.
