Get Your Volkswagen’s Air Conditioner Ready for Summer

There is one thing you should do before summer hits and that is schedule an AC service for your Volkswagen with Lucas Auto Care. This gives us the opportunity to inspect the entire system to make sure you can count on it during the hot summer months. We are going to discuss some of the things we will do below. These inspections and tests confirm your air conditioner is working as it should be.

Let Us Test the Compressor

For example, you have not been running your air conditioner throughout the winter most likely, and, as such, the compressor may malfunction the first time you turn on the VW’s AC. This is because the compressor likes to work and tends to break down if it is not used frequently. We will test the compressor to make sure it is operating correctly.

Let Us Inspect the Condenser

We will also inspect the condenser because it can be damaged by road debris that flies through the grille. This is where the condenser is located; directly behind the grille. It’s installed there to use the air that flows through the grille to cool off the refrigerant. Over time, the condenser can get clogged and damaged by dirt and road debris.

Let Us Test the Condenser Fan

Once we confirm that the condenser is in perfect operating condition, we will test the condenser fan to make sure it is working, as well. This fan helps the condenser cool off the hot refrigerant. Like the condenser, it can be damaged by road debris. Without a working condenser fan, you may end up with warm air blowing through the vents.

Let Us Test the Electrical System

We will also test the electrical system to make sure everything is working from the relays to the switches to the wiring. The air conditioner is hooked into your vehicle’s electrical system and relies on it for power. Inspecting the electrical system ensures that everything is operating as it should be and that you don’t have any dangers such as frayed wires.

Let Us Inspect the Refrigerant

Finally, we will check the refrigerant to make sure you have plenty of it in your VW’s air conditioning system. If the refrigerant level is low, which can happen due to leaks and evaporation, we will refill the refrigerant until it is at the right level.

Don’t let summer take you by surprise. Call Lucas Auto Care in Cypress, TX, today to schedule your VW’s AC inspection.
