Control Arm Maintenance In Houston

Control Arm Maintenance

The control arms are vital pieces to your vehicle’s steering. Exposed and clearly visible on Formula 1 cars, they are the two horizontal pieces that physically attach the wheel to the rest of the suspension. They pivot up and down in two places, aided by the ball joints and bushings. These allow the wheel to move up and down to keep the tire’s contact patch securely on the ground at all times. This allows for much more surefooted handling and a much less chance of a sudden loss of grip when hitting bumps. Control arms are very rugged pieces and rarely need to be replaced in regular conditions. The ball joints and bushings at either end are much more prone to damage and need to be replaced much more frequently.
