John Cooper, an influential rally racer, created souped up Minis for racing duty, and his name still carries on today. Mini was purchased by BMW in 1994 and led to the creation of the new MINI brand, which is still very popular today. In 1999, the Mini was voted the second most influential vehicle of the 20th century, behind only the Ford Model T.
