Ball Joint Inpection and Servicing

The ball joints in your vehicle’s suspension were designed to mimic something very familiar. Working nearly exactly like your hip joint, these joints are a rounded ball which moves freely inside a cup-like connection attached on the other end. Normally, there are two joints on each wheel’s independent suspension – one on the top of the arm and one on the bottom. These ball joints allow for a more flexible connection between your vehicle’s suspension and the wheel. If ball joints were not used, the suspension pieces would be much more brittle and susceptible to wear damage. The ball joints allow a much more independent movement of the wheel and a much better response from the suspension to the driver.
