Originally named Swallow Sidecar Company, the name was changed to Jaguar after WWII to avoid any accidental and unfavorable assimilation of the "SS" initials with the Nazi Schutzstaffel. The company specialized in motorcycle sidecars before transitioning into automobiles. Jaguar's first offering, the SS90 rolled off the assembly line in 1935. However it was their iconic sports cars, like the XK series and the E Type that thrust Jaguar into the world market. Today, Jaguar seeks to reinvigorate sales with the 2006 release of the exciting new XK, producing up to 542hp/500lb-ft torque in the limited XKR-S model.
